FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q.  What is the Bible Fellowship Church?

A.   The Bible Fellowship Church is a group of about fifty-five congregations located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Connecticut, Virginia and New Mexico.  Ministries of the BFC include a Board of Missions which supports about 150 missionaries in 35 countries, a Church Extension Department, a Fellowship Community with a full range of services and retirement housing, the monthly publication Fellowship News, Victory Valley Camp and the Pinebrook Bible Conference.  The BFC believes that the Bible is the true Word of God - the final and only authority for what we believe and how we live.  Individually we believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to take the punishment we deserve for our sins, and we trust Christ alone for forgiveness.  We realize that both faith and forgiveness are gifts given freely by God to His people.  The BFC began in 1858 and the Lancaster congregation was established in 1950.

Q.   How much salary do your Awana staff members receive?

A.   Not a single member of the staff - Commander, van drivers, directors, secretaries, leaders or listeners receive any salary for serving, despite the fact that some often spend 10 - 20 hours or more a week on the Awana program.  All give of themselves and their time because they love the Lord and desire to serve Him.  Each staff member goes through a training program and takes a written test.  Each purchases his/her own uniform and other materials needed to serve effectively.  Many of them support the program with their financial gifts.  Some were formerly Awana clubbers themselves and have returned to serve others.  Many are parents who have children who now are, or used to be, Awana clubbers.  Some are grandparents whose grandchildren now attend.  Our leaders range in age from the teens to the late 80's.  All faithfully serve to help boys and girls learn to know the Lord and to help train them to serve Him throughout their lives. We are excited that over 80 men and women are serving this year in this ministry!

Q.   Is your Awana program in competition with other Awana and
church programs for children?

A.   There are approximately 80,000 children in Lancaster County.  National statistics indicate that 80% of children do not regularly attend Sunday School or church.  Many of these 64,000 know nothing about Jesus Christ or the Gospel.  We reach about 100 of these 80,000 each week, which means there are 79,900 more to be reached.  So, we welcome all the Awana clubs, CEF Good News Clubs, and church outreaches for children.  We need all the help we can get to reach the unsaved here in Lancaster County.  Our competition is not with other churches. We fight - with the help of the Holy Spirit - a wicked spiritual foe who wants to control the hearts and minds of our children.  Praise the Lord for other churches and organizations who are reaching boys and girls for Christ in Lancaster County.  We wish there were more!

Q.    Do you still run the vans for Awana?

A.  Yes, each Wednesday evening we send one of our vans into Lancaster to bring Awana clubbers to our new
church.  Even though we have moved to the west of Lancaster, it is our desire to continue to minister to those
boys and girls to whom we ministered during the first 23 years of our Awana ministry.  We are especially
thankful for several veteran drivers and runners who put in long hours (6:00 pm to 9:30 pm) each Wednesday
night to provide this special service.

Q.    How do I arrange to be picked up by the Awana vans?

A.  Unfortunately, we only have 13 seats available each week.  Because of safety and insurance concerns, we are unable to "squeeze in" another clubber.  In forming the routes, first preference is given to former clubbers and their families who are on our established routes. When the seats are all accounted for, we are forced to say "no".  Our drivers hate to have to say this, but we have no choice.
