INTRODUCTION
“Pop Pop!”
That was the plea I heard from my oldest grandson, Zachary. We had just
brought him home with us on Sunday morning after church. He had just learned
to walk and we were letting him walk by himself along our sidewalk to
our front door.
When I heard his plea, I quickly looked to see what he needed. I saw him
reaching up to me with his hand and I quickly realized the problem.
In order to keep water away from our house we had placed the rainspout
across our sidewalk. For me the three inch high spout was absolutely no
obstacle. In fact I had stepped over it without even thinking about it.
But for someone just learning to walk, it presented a major obstacle.
Gripping his hand in mine we stepped over the spout together. With my
help the obstacle was no problem for him.
A few days later while I was reading my Bible I came to Isaiah 41:13.
“I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and
says to you, do not fear, I will help you.”
Then the application hit me. So often in life we face problems and obstacles,
many of which seem just impossible to us. But, for our Father, who is
the Creator of the universe, no obstacle or problem is ever too great.
And when we call upon Him He will readily grip our hand and help us over
the obstacle.
This has been so true throughout my life. I have been learning to live
“In His Grip”. And, God has always been there. He has promised
never to leave me nor forsake me. And he makes this promise to all of
His children.
My greatest desire in life is that my grandchildren will also learn to
live “In His Grip”. Since I may not always be here to share
my life experiences with you, I have decided to try and share some examples
with you. I pray that these personal life experiences will help you see
the vital importance of living a life for the Lord.
It is my prayer that you will also decide to live “In His Grip”
